Cocobolo is dark, with reddish highlights peeking through at the center and edges.  The naturally occurring oil of the wood lends a strong, unmistakable floral aroma even to well seasoned pieces.  Referring to this particular piece as "naked" is to describe the lack of wax finish on the wood.
